Kidnapping Attempt Unfolds at Galleria Market
On September 21, a routine stop at Galleria Market turned into a nightmare for 23‑year‑old Sahil Arora. After parking his car and stepping into a café, he returned to discover three unknown men already inside his vehicle, one of them brandishing a pistol and demanding that Sahil drive them away.
Victim’s Quick Thinking Saves the Day
When the gun failed to discharge, Sahil seized the moment, floored the accelerator and forced the front‑seat assailant to abandon the car. The two occupants in the back leapt out as the vehicle moved, disappearing into the surrounding traffic.
Moments later a scooter forced Sahil to stop. The remaining gunman fled, leaving the weapon behind. Police later recovered the pistol from the car as part of their investigation.
Police Action and Arrests
The following day Sahil reported the incident at the Sector‑29 police station. The Crime Branch, Sector‑43, launched an immediate probe and identified five suspects:
- Praveen – resident of Sector‑67, Gurugram
- Sumer Singh – Lakshman Vihar, Gurugram
- Shiv Shankar – Vaidharm Colony, Faridabad
- Aman – Meethapur, Delhi
- Hemant – Meethapur, Delhi
All five were taken into custody while investigators pieced together each man’s alleged role in the planned abduction.
Commission Dispute Behind the Plot
According to ACP Naveen Sharma, the motive traces back to a property‑commission disagreement. Praveen had assisted Sahil’s father in closing a deal, only to see the transaction finalized by another party, leaving Praveen unpaid for his expected commission.
Police believe the financial grievance prompted Praveen to conspire with Sumer Singh, aiming to pressure Sahil’s father into paying the disputed amount and to cancel the subsequent sale.
GPS Tracker and Pre‑meditated Planning
Investigators uncovered that Praveen had earlier installed a GPS tracking device on Sahil’s car, enabling the conspirators to monitor his movements. The pair reportedly traveled from Nuh carrying the weapon, with Sumer Singh recruiting Shiv Shankar, Aman and Hemant to execute the scheme.
The intended outcome was to coerce Sahil’s father into settling the commission claim, using the kidnapping threat as leverage.
Ongoing Investigation
Authorities are preparing to present the arrested suspects before a court. Further questioning will focus on the depth of the conspiracy, the origin of the firearm, and the precise involvement of each accused.
