Gruesome Find in Sutha Village
In the early hours of Monday, villagers from Sutha – which falls under the Khudaganj police circle – arrived at their local shrine to confront a nightmarish sight: the bodies of two temple caretakers had been brutally murdered and set alight.
Who Were the Victims?
One of the slain men, Gopaldas, had been a long‑standing resident of Azizganj and had tended the Sutha temple for several years. The second, Baba Bihari Das, was a caretaker who had been sharing duties at the shrine for roughly a month.
Emerging Suspect
Preliminary inquiries point toward Sumit Singh, a local who was released from prison about a month ago. Villagers say Singh often visited the two men and repeatedly expressed a desire to take up residence on temple grounds, a demand that sparked a series of heated arguments.
Police officials say an altercation erupted on the night of the killings over Singh’s claim to the premises. Since then, Singh has disappeared.
Community Reaction
Neighbors describe Singh as a person with a criminal record and a history of substance abuse. Many locals kept their distance from him and reportedly opposed his return to the village after his release.
Police Action
Superintendent of Police Saurabh Dixit confirmed that Singh’s name emerged early in the investigation. Three dedicated police teams have been dispatched to locate him, while broader inquiries continue into the double homicide.
Ongoing Investigation
Authorities are examining every possible motive, from the dispute that turned violent to the circumstances that led to the bodies being burned. Further updates will be provided as the search for the suspect proceeds.
